Working in Quebec with a CSQ
Individuals in possession of a valid Quebec Selection Certificate/certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ) may work in Quebec without needing to secure a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) for the position.
These workers may submit an application to renew or extend their work authorization in Quebec. Under an agreement with the federal government, Quebec allows for some of the foreign nationals it has selected under its economic immigration categories (specifically, the Quebec Skilled Worker
Individuals who hold a valid CSQ under one of these programs and who currently reside in Quebec must fall under one of the following categories:
1) Applicant seeking to extend their work permit for their current employer or renew it with a different employer in the province of Quebec; 2) Applicant seeking a work permit with a new employer in the province of Quebec; 3) Foreign student who has obtained a post-graduation work permit and has an offer of employment in the province of Quebec; or 4) Work permit holder through participation in one of the following programs under the International Experience Canada (IEC) program: a) Working Holiday, b) 18-month Young Professionals Co-op, or c) International Co-op (Internship).
