Parent and Grandparent Program: Invitations to Apply
The Parent and Grandparent Program (PGP) for immigration to Canada has moved to an Expression of Interest / Invitation to Apply system in 2017. This page contains information for sponsors who receive an invitation to sponsor
Whereas previous PGP application cycles operated on a first-come, first-served basis, the program has shifted to a system whereby potential sponsors must first complete and submit the 'Interest to Sponsor' web form during the specified intake period.
What to do before you get an invitation
Potential sponsors who receive an invitation to submit an application have 60 days (from the date of the invitation) to submit a complete application, including supporting documents and fees. Therefore, it is imperative to submit the form and prepare on the presumption that you may receive an invitation.
Potential sponsors who have not prepared for this eventuality may find that they are unable to gather and review all supporting documents if they only begin to do so after an invitation is issued. The range of supporting documentation may be extensive. Sponsors must submit income taxation records, documents relating to civil status, and other material.
The forms include:
Application to Sponsor, Sponsorship ,Agreement and Undertaking, Financial Evaluation for Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship, Statutory Declaration of Common-law Union, Generic Application Form for Canada, Additional Dependants/Declaration, Schedule A - Background/Declaration, Additional Family Information, Use of Representative and Processing Fees
